This year Tech world has brought in two big surprises for Chromebook lovers, one is the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 and another one is the Acer Chromebook Spin 514. Today we are going to get some juices from Acer since the most attractive part is being a budget Chromebook of 2021 and its Ryzen configuration.
What’s Coming in the Acer Chromebook Spin 514 Variants?
We all know Chromebooks are always an expensive machine compared to Windows devices, however Acer Spin 514 is a chromebook under $500, that is the base model with Ryzen 3 Dual core processor and AMD Ryzen Graphics shared memory. It comes out with 4GB DDR4 SDRAM and 64GB Flash memory. Besides there are more of the powerful variants available which are based on the Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 processors and up to 16GB RAM, which are obviously expected with higher prices than this base model.
One more variant with more of the security features are on the edge for the business mens in the month of march. This enterprise model comes with advanced features anyone looks for the safest on the go tabuling and admin features better than what we used to see in general models. Again this variant is something that will cost around $1000 for sure.
Coming back to the basic model, the one I have bought out of curiosity, has really nailed what I was expecting from it. This is an incredibly fast machine with great strength to deal with multiple tabs and Android App, providing buttery smooth performance in all grounds. I have used this Chromebook for editing and doing intense multitasking, the performance is absolutely flawless I tell you.
Design of the Chromebook Spin 514
Acer Chromebook Spin 514 has a preconceived design which might not give away the difference from the previous models at first glance if you are using any one of it already. The major difference on inspection which first falls on you is the screen size. This model is a 14 inch IPS touchscreen display with FHD (1920x1080p) resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. Unfortunately, the brightness of the screen must need to be brought in rectification next time because I have felt this pretty dim despite it being 250nits compared to the previous model or say acer Chromebook Spin 713.
It has a strong built marking its durability with the aluminum lid and magnesium alloy backlit keyboard to base. It has not so round edges but a sleek looking touch with fine body structure which I personally marvel on. It has passed the U.S. MIL-STD 810 i.e. the sand and dust testing too, which might be the reason for taking an extra pound of weight compared to the Chromebook Spin 713.
Further, Acer Chromebook Spin 514 is providing 10 hours of non stop browsing and multitasking, I was definitely expecting some more hours from this one, but still this much is pretty ok for and I must not say a deal breaker anyhow.
It has 2x USB C (USB 3.2 Gen 1) with up to 5Gbps speed and 2x USB A ports (USB 3.2), 1x Audio Combo Jack, Micro SD car slot and an HDMI. It supports Lab Certifications and Google Assistant as well. Have two built-in stereo speakers and two built-in microphones.
When you need a big screen and something affordable too, then Acer Chromebook Spin 514 is a nice deal to avail. For me who has a basic level of computing with a bit of upscaled task but not too intensified, I found this luxury less than $500 the best thing to buy. Similarly, its better for students and casual users to upgrade their Chromebook by using Acer Spin 514 instead. Although for more performance and power, there are variants available with more dollars too.
